Peter Njane ISHTAR-MSM

Peter Njane is a human rights defender and the director of ISHTAR-MSM, a leading community-based organization and clinic focused on health issues pertaining to men who have sex with men (MSM). Peter has pioneered and promoted the inclusion of MSM health needs for over 10 years and was a founding member of the Gay and Lesbian Coalition of Kenya. He successfully co-led advocacy efforts to stop a government effort to use biometrics as part of an HIV study, working in a community-driven network comprised of civil society groups. Njane serves as the Key Population representative of Kenya Coordinating mechanism of the Global fund and openly, without shame engages with the Kenyan Ministry of Health to ensure that MSM have access to quality HIV prevention and treatment services across the country.
